We at Sligo Traveller Support Group were delighted to organise an event as part of World Suicide Prevention Day. This morning, Tuesday September 10th, we set off on a walk to the summit of Knocknarea in memory of those lost through suicide and in support of anyone that may be experiencing difficulties with their mental health. Our walk was part of a series of events that were taking place across the country under the banner of ‘Travellers Together Preventing Suicide’. Participants carried stones to the summit to leave at the ancient burial place of Queen Maeve while a decade of the rosary was also recited. If you feel that you are struggling with your mental health in any way or are concerned about a friend or family member dont hesitate to contact Sligo Traveller Support Group on 0719145780 in total confidentiality.
